Beginning Linocut Printmaking - Valentine's Prints

USD 50.00

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn to carve designs into linoleum blocks, ink them, and transfer the images onto paper to make one-of-a-kind Valentine’s. This class is ideal for beginners and does not require drawing skills.

We will learn to:

  • Design & Transfer: Master the art of "thinking in reverse" by planning designs in positive and negative space and transferring them onto the block. We will provide templates and inspiration images but students are welcome to bring their own.

  • Carve Linoleum Blocks: Gain confidence with linoleum cutters to create varied textures, lines, and details. These tools will be yours to take home to continue your printmaking journey.

  • Ink & Print Learn to use a brayer (roller) to apply even layers of ink and pull prints using a hand-burnishing method.

You will leave with a set of carving tools, finished prints / cards, and your reusable carved block to continue printing at home.

Location: Pitch Black Printing/Jet Cafe - 700 E. Fourth St.
Date: Saturday, January 31st
Time: 2-5pm
Cost: $50 per person
