Learn the basics to making sourdough bread without stress. This straightforward lesson will teach you only what you need to know to jump right in and successfully bake your first loaves. No history, no science, no over-explanation, and no overcomplicated instructions that make you want to give up—just the essential facts. Baking sourdough is not as hard as it seems and you do not need any prior experience to succeed. You just need a bestie to give you only what you need to know, nothing more. With the foundation you will gain from this class you can dive deeper if you choose to. When you finish this class you will be prepared to go home and confidently rehydrate your starter and begin to successfully make sourdough asap.
In this demonstrative* class I will teach you:
-the basic tools needed and what they do
-how to rehydrate and care for your sourdough starter
-a basic sourdough recipe and how you can zazz it up with fancy add ons
-how to use sourdough discard (unfed, cold starter) for other recipes
-how to make your dough, stretch and fold it, and bulk ferment to prepare for baking
-how to bake your dough
*This class is a demonstrative class only, there will be no hands-on lesson and we will not be making bread in class. You will however leave knowing exactly what to do at home to successfully make sourdough.
What you will take home with you (two options at checkout):

-dehydrated starter (purchased from a reputable online licensed baker)
-handout of key information and reference materials
-recipe for basic sourdough, discard cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookies

-two banneton baskets with linen liners
-dough whisk
-bowl scraper
-dough/bench scraper
-bread lame with extra blades and cover
-cleaning brush and more accessories!

-medium/large dutch oven that can withstand 500 degree heat
-parchment paper (unbleached)
-organic flour
-salt
-water
